Dr Emeka Okaro is a consultant obstetrician and the lead clinician for benign gynaecology at St. Bartholomew's and the Royal London NHS Teaching Hospitals in London. He first qualified in medicine in 1991 from the University of Nigeria and has since become a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Dr Okaro specialises in early pregnancy complications, pelvic pain, menstrual disorders (fibroids, polyps, polycystic ovaries), abnormal smears, endometriosis, and ovarian cysts. He has specific expertise in gynaecological ultrasonography, is a qualified diagnostic and therapeutic colposcopist, and is RCOG accredited in minimal access surgery (laparoscopic surgery).
Dr Okaro has a passion for research and is regularly asked to speak at national and worldwide conferences on the use of ultrasonography in the therapy of common gynaecological disorders. Throughout his career, he has published several research papers in both international publications and medical books.
